Blanche Improv Scene Work Course

What to expect from the course: Learn acting techniques that work well in improv, so you consistently create scenes you love being in. Blanche’s 8 week course in Improv Scene Work covers:

  • Connecting with your scene partner

  • Using sensory work to reveal the ‘who’, ‘what’ and ‘where’ of a scene

  • Enhancing scenes by being specific about your object work

  • Creating characters you can sustain and that work well in improv scenes

  • Emotional responses for improv

At the end of the course, participants should be able to confidently perform a variety of 2 minute improvised scenes demonstrating their ability to connect with their scene partners and play at least one character who is slightly different from themself. The show case format for this class is a La Ronde.

There will be a maximum of 12 participants in this course.

Blanche asks everyone in the Blanche Improv community to follow her Code of Conduct and students are required to abide by the Student Agreement.

Can’t do these dates? Blanche will run the Improv Scene Work program throughout the year- details will be announced on the Blanche socials.

Who is this course best suited to: This course is for people who have done some improv training. If you are a complete beginner, Blanche recommends you take Improv Fundamentals before Improv Scene Work.

  • Intermediates: Take your scenes to the next level! Develop your ability to play organic, long form improv scenes. Learn how to create great characters that work well in improv.

  • Experienced Improvisers: Push the limits of your improv- play voice of reason characters that are interesting in their own right, learn how far you can take your wacky characters and when to reign them in. Spend some time doing lovely, satisfying, grounded scenes that just make sense.
